Knit/crochet Worship: Prayer Shawls

Free Workshop

Come learn to knit or crochet, teach others or hone your skills.

At Shallowford, we create shawls with a special purpose. The shawl maker prays for the recipient with every weave, and gives the shawl a final blessing, that it might provide God's love and comfort to the recipient.

Rev. Chris Henry says, "The prayer shawl ministry shares the prayers, love, and concern of the SPC community in a powerfully tangible way."

In 2014, volunteers have already given more than 60 shawls, and we invite anyone and everyone to learn the skill and continue the practice on their own.

Ministry leader, Denise Webber says, "I lead a Prayer Shawl Ministry because I was first a prayer shawl recipient. I know how deeply my heart was touched by this selfless gift from someone else."
