Island Adventure Day

Saturday, May 31 from 10am – 2pm

Kick off summer fun by going on an island adventure! Enjoy a variety of island-themed activities including a Museum scavenger hunt, temporary tattoos, crafts, games and more.

Presented as part of Fernbank’s summer-fun series, 97 Days of Play.

Scheduled Activities*

Live Lemur Feedings
10am – 2pm, Great Hall
Get up close to an assortment of live lemurs from Sam’s Path Petting Zoo. Guests won’t be able to pet the lemurs, but will have an opportunity to feed them. Parental supervision required.

Fish Scale Craft 
10am – 2pm, Great Hall
Create your own brightly-colored tropical fish using decorative tissue paper.

Lei Making Station
10am – 2pm, Great Hall 
Make your very own lei necklace using colorful plastic flowers and straws.

Giggy A. Dinosaur 
10am – 2pm, Museum-wide
Say “Aloha” to Fernbank’s very own island-hopping dinosaur.

Shell Scavenger Hunt
10am – 2pm, Museum-wide 
Challenge yourself to find the answers to this special scavenger hunt and enter to win a special “Splish Splash Summer Bash” prize pack.

Shell Discovery Cart
10am – 2pm, Great Hall
Learn about a variety of shells and ocean life as our educators provide hands-on demonstrations about life in the sea.

Feelin’ Fishy Temporary Tattoos 
10am – 2pm Great Hall 
Flaunt your fins with free temporary fish tattoos.

DJ Trey Caples
10am – 2pm, Great Hall 
Dance and play to tropical island music.  

Whales: Giants of the Deep
10am – 5pm, Self-guided
Explore the world of whales inside-out in this special exhibition featuring enormous whale skeletons, beautiful artifacts and more.

Journey to the South Pacific
10am, noon, 2pm, 4pm, Fernbank’s IMAX® Theatre
Continue your island adventure with the chance to see what life is like on the lush tropical islands of remote West Papua. Requires an additional ticket purchase.

Island of Lemurs: Madagascar 
11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, Fernbank’s IMAX® Theatre
Sing, dance and leap your way to the island of Madagascar to meet nature’s greatest explorers—lemurs. Requires an additional ticket purchase.

Cost: Unless noted, all Island Adventure Day activities are included with Museum admission. Free for members
