Jacksonville has nothing on Decatur. On October 27 Big Tex Decatur is throwing “Decatur’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” with sister restaurants Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q and Smith’s Olde Bar, as well as ABSOLUT Vodka, Boulevard Brewing Company and el Jimador. The all-day and night event will be a toast to great food, music, family and community. The partnership between Smith’s, Fox Bros. and Big Tex have much to celebrate including the 5th year anniversary of the Atlanta barbecue spot, the infamous University of Georgia v. University of Florida football game, a spicy-smoked wing-eating contest, the launch of Big Tex Decatur’s new beer cocktail menu, and of course, Halloween.
In the five years since opening, Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q has become an Atlanta staple. Their famous homemade sauces and beloved barbecue dishes have fans licking their lips for more. “It’s hard to believe it has already been five years,” said Jonathan Fox. “We are so grateful for all of the support the community has shown us.”
Not only is this event FREE to the public, but there will be prizes given away to those with the best Halloween costume. The evening will be filled with music hand-picked by Smith’s Olde Bar. “These are some of our favorite bands,” said co-owner of Smith’s, Dan Nolen. “We are looking forward to bringing delicious food and great music together for this event.” Deja Blue will kick off the lineup beginning at 1 p.m. followed by a watching party for the football game. Music will resume right after the game with
Caroline & The Ramblers. Headlining the evening is the gritty, country folk band, The Whiskey Gentry. Like a Locomotive will start the late-night party on the inside stage. Listen to these great bands while sipping concoctions from Big Tex Decatur’s new beer cocktail menu including The Big Tex Especial (Clamato Juice, Miller High Life with a side shorty of Jägermeister).
Revelers come in your best Halloween getups and prepare for a night with hundreds of your closest friends, while celebrating the anniversary of a five-year-old Atlanta treasure, a 78-year-old football rivalry and one of the best costume parties in Atlanta. “You don't have to leave Decatur to feel like you’re in Jacksonville,” said co-partner of Big Tex, Beau Nolen.
