Catch the Avondale Trolley and Tour the Town

Trolleys will be back in town to transport you to six of Avondale’s most interesting homes as well as a Live Nativity at the Avondale Estates First Baptist Church and The Museum School in its new location at the former Forrest Hills Elementary School. The Holiday Market will feature everything from Art to Zany gift items while the Market Café will serve delicious soups and hot apple cider.

Visit some of Avondale’s loveliest homes, starting with the English Cottage on Dartmouth Avenue built in the early 20s and a Dutch Revival also built in the 20s that has been in the same family for five generations. Other homes include the home of Finders Keepers’ Bonnie Kallenberg built in the 60s and another 60s home built in the California Contemporary/Frank Lloyd Wright style. Two of the newest homes built on some of the few remaining lots in Avondale contain elements of the Craftsman style.

Purchase or pick up tickets at the Avondale Community Club. Here you will visit the festive Holiday Market featuring great foods, unique gifts and fun finds! Shop 30 booths to purchase a variety of items such as handmade jewelry, monogrammed scarves, personalized Christmas ornaments, local honey, cards, soaps, jams and jellies, baked goods, pecans, grits bits, and cured meats. Be sure to visit the Authors' Corner, where you can meet local authors, including Avondale's own Mary Kay Andrews, and purchase autographed copies of their works.

Tickets for the tour may be purchased for $12 in advance at Avondale City Hall, Finders Keepers Furniture, REAL Salon and Seventeen Steps or for $15 on the tour day at the Avondale Community Club. Assure your place on a trolley by signing up in advance at various Avondale businesses or contact Margaret Lunsford at mplcvl@aol.com.
