BANDTASTIC SUMMER CAMP TO MAKE MUSIC AT OXFORD COLLEGE
Bandtastic 2014 Summer Camp for middle school musicians will celebrate its second year by studying on the campus of Emory's Oxford College in Oxford, GA. The camp is designed for students, grade 6-9, who have at least one year playing experience on their instrument. Bandtastic 2014 will explore classical, jazz, pop, blues and religious music.
There will be full band rehearsals, marching band drills, music theory, career planning and mock auditions. Extracurricular activities will include yoga, field day, swimming, gym time and movie night. Clinicians will include band directors from Redan Middle and High Schools, music students from Juilliard and the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Last year, Bandtastic was held at the Greenforest Christian Academy with 30 students in attendance. This year, participants will live in Oxford dormitories for the week of June 1-June 7. All sheet music and supervision will be provided. Students must bring their own instruments. The final concert will be held on June 7 at 10: 30 a.m. in Williams Center and the public is welcome to attend.
