Avondale Poetry Reading To Feature Khalia Johnson

Featured poet for the monthly Avondale Estates Poetry

Reading on Tuesday November 5 will be Khaliah Johnson.
Khaliah
is a physician-poet whose writing touches upon her experiences in

medicine and  beyond.  Her heartfelt passion for caring for children

and connecting to others with care and compassion are themes that emerge in her
work.  Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Johnson currently resides in

Atlanta, GA and is a pediatric palliative care specialist at Children's
Healthcare
of Atlanta.  Her work in medicine has also lead her to

volunteer service work in several countries within Latin America and

sub-Saharan Africa.  She has published in several peer-reviewed scientific

journals, and keeps a blog about her service experience in South Africa.

The
reading meets the first Tuesday of every month at
Avondale Estates’ Savage Pizza at the corner of Laredo and N Clarendon. An open

reading, during which anyone can share a poem, either original work or a

favorite by another poet, begins  at 7 p.m. and
the featured poet reads at 8 p.m.
Join
