Update On Weekend Plans: Friday Movie On Decatur Square Cancelled

Your weekend planner: A 5K to benefit Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool, a home brew celebration, a fishing derby in Avondale Estates and the month's first Concert on the Square, with Michelle Malone.

Cinco de Mayo is the big celebration this weeekend, and Patch has a list of places you can celebrate this holiday. But there's plenty of other things to do, starting with this list. For all the weekend possibilities, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. Beat the Street for Little Feet 5k Race. This annual race and children's festival benefits Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool. Β All registered runners receive a T-shirt featuring a custom Pete the Cat image by James Dean. Starts at 8 a.m. Saturday at 830 W. College Ave., Decatur. $25.

2. CANCELLED BECAUSE OF EXPECTED BAD WEATHER: Free Movies on the Decatur Square. DeKalb Medical presents She's Having A Baby. The movie starts around 7:30 p.m. Friday. Bring a blanket. Free.

3. Homebrew Day Celebration. Wine Workshop and Brew Center marks its opening with this celebration of the brewing arts. 9 a.m. Saturday at 627 E College Ave., Decatur. Free.

4. Fishing derby. Residents gather at Lake Avondale for a good-natured angling competition. Starts at 8 a.m. Saturday. Free.

5. Michelle Malone Banned. This local favorite kicks off the month's free concerts on the Decatur Court Square. Starts about 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the community bandstand. Free.
