What Should Go Here: Avondale Villa Apartments

This apartment complex is boarded up and surrounded by a fence.

You may have overlooked this shuttered apartment complex.

A thick cover of trees blocks the view of Avondale Villa Apartments at 2860 Villa Circle, off Forrest Boulevard and just outside the Avondale Estates city limits.

It's close to and .

A fence encircles the apartment complex property and all the buildings are boarded up. A commercial real estate website says the complex has 40 units in 10 buildings, all built around 1958.

Nobody has lived there in several years.

What would you like to see on this property? Remember, it doesn't have to be multi-family housing. Can you think of something Avondale Estates needs that might fit on this property?

I would love to see a retirement condo community in AE. I know people like myself who have lived here over 20 years want to size down into something with less maintenance and a garage. Unfortunately the condos of AE weren't built with garages leaving it undesirable for many.

A retirement community is a good idea. Not sure why not having a garage would be a deal killer. Condos don't usually have garages and they can always be built. Were in the south..not Chicago !!

A Retirement Community would be a great addition to the community, or green space.
