Weekender: Music at Woodlands Garden

Here are five fun things to do this weekend in and around Decatur and Avondale Estates.

Music in the garden. Singer-songwriter and guitarist Charles Leonard and his musical friends will play 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Woodlands Garden. The songs are dedicated to Leonard's late grandson, Lee Lowery, who would have been 21 on July 28. Woodlands Garden is located at 932 Scott Blvd. Parking is limited, so you may need to leave your car at the Westchester center and walk. Free.

Pops Concert with the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra and Mac Frampton.  Pianist Frampton and his trio perform an evening of pops, including Gershwin's I Got Rhythm, at 8 p.m. Friday at Marvin Cole Auditorium at Georgia Perimeter College at 555 N. Indian Creek Drive, Clarkston. Tickets are $30 for adults, $28 for seniors over 60 and $15 for students.

Monthly song circle. Group singing for fun at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the East Lake Commons Community House at 900 Dancing Fox Road. Free.

Live music at clubs. At Eddie's Attic, the Kurt Thomas Band on Friday; Tylan from Girlyman and Five Eight with James Hall on Saturday; and Swear and Shake with Cicada Rhythm on Sunday. At Kavarna, Starboarders on Friday and Oasis on Saturday. At Big Tex Cantina, Zydeco Yaya on Saturday and Laura Monk and High Cotton on Sunday.

Zombie Pub Crawl. At 4 p.m. Saturday, complimentary zombie makeovers will be provided in the parking lot of Diesel Filling Station at 870 N. Highland Ave. in Virginia Highland. The zombies will hit the local bars before coming back for an 8 p.m. afterparty at Diesel.
