Weekender: Homebrew Battle, Dancer's Heart 5K

Here are five things to do this weekend in and around Decatur and Avondale Estates.

1. Homebrew Battle. Beer lovers will compete with their creations at The Beer Growler in Avondale Estates. Individuals and teams will do battle. There will be music and food, too. Starts at noon Saturday at 38 N. Avondale Road. $15 for adults, under 12 free.

2. A Dancer's Heart 5K Run/Walk/Dance. This fund-raiser will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at Decatur High School. $30.

3. Live music. At Kavarna, Frisky Monkey on Saturday and Harrison Brown on Sunday. At Eddie's Attic, Ellis Paul on Friday, Joe Gransden's Big Band with vocalist Charissa Gransden for two shows on Saturday and Erick Baker with Jillian Edwards on Sunday.

4. Eat to Give. On Friday, Fox will donate 20 percent of sales to Staplehouse, a not for profit restaurant that blends exceptional food and charity. Proceeds from Staplehouse are donated to The Giving Kitchen, the foundation set up to help service industry folks with medical bills.

5. Atlanta's Green Fun Fest and Lawn Darts Challenge. This free, family friendly green/eco festival will have a children's area, farmers market, vendor bazaar, advocacy area, entertainment, food truck alley and gaming boardwalk. Noon Saturday at Grant Park.
