Weekender: Family Fun At Woodlands Garden

Welcome to Woodlands Garden.  On Sunday afternoon, Woodlands Garden invites the community to explore the seven acres of trees and flowers at 932 Scott Blvd.  There will be a storyteller, a children’s parade and an introduction to new garden executive director Clarie Waggenspack Hayes. Starts at 2 p.m., with the program starting at 3:15 p.m. Parking is limited, so visitors are encouraged to park at Westchester School and walk or bike to the garden. Free.

Local boxer signs book.  Xavier “Fastpads” Biggs, who has coached and appeared on NBC’s “The Voice,” has written a book, “Sweet Sucker Punch,”  a collection of life lessons. The Decatur Minute says Biggs will hold a signing party Saturday at the Decatur Boxing Club at 137 New St. Admission is $15 and includes a boxing demo and barbecue. Peach Jam 2013. The first event in this celebration was a big hit at the Decatur Farmers Market on Wednesday. Peach Jam is a party built around Georgia’s signature fruit, the Peach, with special foods and drinks.
