Weekend Planner: Holiday Edition

To enjoy the holidays in Decartur and Avondale Estates, try Joe Gransden's big band, a musical comedy at OnStage Atlanta or a Charlie Brown Christmas.

This weekend is full of hoiday activities. Here are five big ones, but for a full listing check out the Calendar of Holiday Happenings or the Events calendar.

1. Swingin' yule music. Local jazzman Joe Gransden and his band perform two holiday shows Thursday at Eddie's Attic with singer Francine Reed. Shows at 8 and 10 p.m. with $20 tickets online.

2. Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical. This seasonal comedy will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at OnStage Atlanta, 2597 N. Decatur Road, Decatur. Tickets are $12 online.

3. A Charlie Brown Christmas. David Ellington peforms this much-loved family musical matinee at 3 p.m. Sunday at Eddie's Attic. Free.

4. "Elf." You can watch this Will Ferrell movie, a holiday classic, at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Toco Hill-Avis G. Williams Library at 1282 McConnell Drive. Free.

5. Atlanta Christmas 5K. The Atlanta Christmas 5K Run/Walk will begin in Atlanta at Fire Station 19 and end at Morningside Presbyterian Church. It starts at 8:30 a.m. $35.
