Weekend Planner: Start With the Oakhurst Wine Crawl

Other possibilities: A special DeKalb Choral Guild concert, blues singer Francine Reed, a family puppet show and the opera "Stone Soup."

Here are five things to do this weekend in Decatur and Avondale Estates. For a full list of possibilities, look at the Decatur Patch events calendar.

1. Oakhurst Wine Crawl. Drink for a good cause Saturday at this event benefiting Oakhurst neighborhood projects. The Fur Bus provides transportation.  Starts at 4 p.m.

2. DeKalb Choral Guild 35th anniversary concert. A special alumni choir will gather for the concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Avondale Estates First Baptist Church at 47 Covington Road. $15.

3. Francine Reed. The Atlanta-based singer performs her annual Decatur Black History Month concert at 6:30 and 8:30 pm. Sunday at Eddie’s Attic. Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the door.

4. Puppetpalooza. This puppet variety show at the Academy Theatre features the talents of the Atlanta Puppetry Guild and will include games, activities for kids and merchandise for sale.  Starts at 11 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are $5 and $10.

5. Opera for the whole family. The Atlanta Opera performs the children’s opera Stone Soup at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Decatur High Performing Arts Center.  $7.
