When/where: Friday, March 2, at 6 p.m. at the Porter Sanford Performing Arts Center at 3181 Rainbow Drive, Decatur.

Why go: State Farm Insurance and DeKalb County Commissioner Stan Watson launch First Fridays DeKalb Jazz Networking, benefiting the Porter Sanford Arts Foundation. For information, email firstfri­daysdekalb@­gmail.­com.

When/where: Now scheduled for April 21. It will not happen on Saturday, March 3, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at 120 W. Trinity Place, Decatur,  (the Callaway Building Parking Lot).

Why go: The dump trucks, fire trucks, tractors, police cars and motorcycles and  other vehicles owned by the City of Decatur and DeKalb County will be on display. If you ride your bike to the event, Decatur police will register your bicycle.  In the event that it is lost or stolen, registration will aid in its safe return.

Price: Free.

When/where: Saturday, March 3, 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday, March 4, 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Woodruff Physical Activities Building/Oakhurst Softball Field.

Why go: This tournament will honor the memory of Lauren Giddings, a 2006 graduate and college softball player who was murdered in Macon last June. Teams competing in the tournament include Sewanee, Spelman, Wesleyan and Brenau.

Price: Free.

When/where: Saturday, March 3, 9 a.m. at , 1798 Haygood Drive NE, Atlanta.

Why go: The Red Devil Dash is a 5K race through Emory's beautiful Lullwater Forest to benefit the Phillip Hicks Memorial Sportsmanship Award and the Druid Hills Athletic Foundation, benefiting athletes from all DHHS sports teams.

Price: $25.

When/where: Sunday, March 4, 2 p.m. at the , 435 Oakview Road, Decatur.

Why go: Cassandra Lawson, the garden's Bee Team Leader, will teach you how to make beeswax candle by pouring into molds. Learn the proper temperatures, wick size and tips to make your candles perfect.
