Today: Decatur High Starts Homecoming Week

Here are 5 Things you need to know about this date -- Monday, Oct. 22, 2012.

1. Homecoming week. Decatur High is celebrating its 100th anniversary, meaning homecoming week will be big. Students will be building floats and having dress-up competitions all week. The Homecoming Parade is Friday before the game with Towers.

2. Help the band. The Decatur High band annual fruit sale is under way through Wednesday, Oct. 24. You can order a 20-pound or 40-pound box. If you don't know a band kid, email decaturband@gmail.com.

3. Weather. Sunny with a high around 77 and lows in the mid-40s.

4. Public meetings. Decatur City Commission discussion of annexation ideas at 6 p.m. in city hall. Avondale Estates Board of Commissioners at 5:30 p.m. in city hall.
