The Week Ahead in Decatur and Avondale Estates

You can hear a speech by Avondale Estates' mayor, learn to be interesting, eat out for Decatur Farm to School, watch glass blowers up close and take a seminar on kitchen design.

There will be lots of activity this weekend because of Easter, but in the meantime, here are five things to know about the coming week. For a full list of things to do, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. The State of Avondale Estates. Mayor Ed Rieker will give his annual state of the city address at 7:30 p.m. Monday at city hall.

2. How To Be Interesting. That's the title of Jessica Hagy's new book.Β  Hagy, known for her blog "Indexed," will talk and sign at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Decatur Library in an event put on by the Georgia Center for the Book.

. On Tuesday night, a portion of proceeds at participating Decatur restaurants goes to the Decatur Farm to School program. Starts at 5 p.m.

4. Open studio at Atlanta Hot Glass. This new glassblowing studio invites the public to visit at 6 p.m. Thursdays through April. It's located at 178 Laredo Drive in the Rail Arts District. Free.

5. Design your ideal kitchen.Β  Renewal Design-Build offers this free seminar at 7 p.m. Thursday atΒ  124 S. Columbia Drive, Decatur.
