Sweet Time At Peach Jam

The free celebration started at the Decatur Farmers Market and picks up at the East Lake and Grant Park markets.

Peach Jam 2013, a four-day celebration of Georgia's iconic fruit, kicked off Wednesday at the Decatur Farmers Market with peach-flavored food, drink and music.

Dave Roberts of Community Que provided a whole pig cooked with peach BBQ sauce.

Vendors sold peach and bacon pizza and peach beer. They gave away nibbles of peach BBQ sauce on pork rinds.

Chefs competed in a peach BBQ sauce competition. The winners were Rick Watson from Big Tex Decatur, Hamilton Barnes from Front Porch BBQ and Kevin Ouzts from the Spotted Trotter.

A duo named City Mouse entertained the crowd with tunes, one which included a peach reference.

Peach Jam continued Thursday at the East Lake Farmers Market. There will be more competitions Saturday, again at the East Lake market, and Sunday at the Grant Park market. See the Community Farmers Market website for details.

Peach Jam is sponsored by Slow Food Atlanta and Community Farmers Markets. The party continued Thursday at the East Lake Farmers Markets.
