Same Sex Kiss Day at Decatur Chick-fil-A

From noon to 2 p.m. Friday, gays and lesbians are urged to pucker up at the restaurant.

A Same Sex Kiss Day is planned from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at the at 105 East Trinity Place in Decatur.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has organized the National Same-Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country that day.

Gayborhood App and Carma Productions announced the Decatur event. An email said,

The event is open to all community members (gay or straight) who do not agree with Chick-fil-A's support of sites and organizations that believe only men and women constitute marriage.

The Same Sex Kiss Days are a protest against statements by the Chick-fil-A president in support of traditional marriage and against same-sex marriage.

Ah, life is good, TSPLOST failed and I'm gonna go get me some Chic-Fil-A today, Wednesday, August 1, 2012. You know what GLAAD?, you're gonna be drowned out Friday by today's turnout.......make fools out of yourselves, I don't care. I might even eat some more CFA Friday. BTW, do any of you work?.....

Glad folks are protesting Chick-fil-A. It should have stayed out of the judgment business and political arena and stuck to fast food. And hiding discrimination behind Christianity just makes the company's stance worse.

Why not cover today's huge turnout? Seems very one sided

@bulldogger, bigoted much? It's about so much more than gay marriage. Maybe you can show some human compassion instead of hiding behind your computer spewing hate? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-badash/chick-fil-a-5-reasons-it-isnt-what-you-think_b_1725237.html?utm_hp_ref=fb&src=sp&comm_ref=false

To Oakie, what kind of hate did I spew, I ate some little chicky, showed me some support for Mr. Dan Cathy, a christian man who follows his conscience as respects to the procreation of human children which is only possible between a Man and a Woman, thus is the only reason to get married. Adam and Steve cannot be married, legally because they can't have children together and the same for two females. Oh, you know, I was sitting here, trying to get the cobwebs out when it hit me as to what this was all about........I thing it's all about entitlements, same sex couples want the same benefits that heterosexual cocuples have. You want to be able to take advantage of our tax systems, you want to be able to join our Country Clubs as "man and man" and "woman and woman". Fact - the majority of the citizens of America DO NOT BELIEVE IN SAME SEX MARRIAGE. I know you think you're being trampled on by the majority, but actually I happen to believe you're treated quite well. And I have to ask this again......if you're gonna have a "kiss-in" on Friday, August 3, 2012, with working how are you gonna find time? OR DO ANY OF YOU SLACKERS EVEN WORK? What do you do SQUAT on someone's else's property for a place to lay your head. Get yourselves together and be productive and make something out of your lives. You can't do it by "Holding Hands and making kissy-kissy in front of the 1.639 Chick-Fil - A Franchises. The owners of these businesses are doing what you ought to be doing,

In my ideal world, the Decatur Chick Fil A owners would come out to the Same Sex Kiss Day event, give everyone a hug, say that they do not support the statements of their corporate president, and offer everyone a chicken sandwich. I would then feel free to take the kids back to their favorite restaurant. Change starts local.

They did come out and offer free drinks to the protesters. While some were rude enough to sit on Chick fila property and eat food from another fast food restaurant.
