Road Rage Leads To Arrest in Avondale Estates

A man and a woman were arrested after a road rage incident that started on I-285 ended in front of Avondale Estates City Hall.

Police said a couple with a teen-aged child told authorities they were driving on I-285 late in the afternoon of June 8 when a woman in a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu displayed a firearm.

The people in the first car called 911 and followed the Malibu as it left I-285 and traveled into Avondale Estates.

DeKalb County and Avondale Estates police responded to the 911 call and stopped the Malibu in front of city hall, police said.

The driver, Kayla Denise Garrett, 21, of Columbia Woods Drive, Decatur, and Travion Marcellous Blount, 21, of Conley were charged with aggravated assault and possession of marijuana.

Bount also was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and carrying a firearm without a permit.

Garrett and Blount are being held in the DeKalb County Jail.
