Decatur Schools Open on Presidents Day, But Not Decatur City Hall
Avondale City Hall will be open for business Monday.
Not everybody is taking a holiday on Presidents Day -- Monday, Feb. 20.
The City Schools of Decatur and the Avondale Estates City Hall will be open for business as usual. Except for banks, almost all stores operate will operate as usual.
But Decatur City Hall, DeKalb County Schools, DeKalb County government and federal offices will be closed Monday to observe the holiday.

In Decatur, regular garbage service for Monday, Feb. 20, will be on Tuesday. Regular service for Tuesday will be on Wednesday.
In DeKalb County, it's the same thing -- Monday service on Tuesday, Tuesday service on Wednesday. The Thursday and Friday schedule will be as usual.

Presidents Day honors the birth of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. They used to be separate holidays (Feb. 12 for Lincoln, Feb. 22 for Washington), but the dates were so close they became unified into one holiday in 1971.
