Movie Filming Wednesday In Downtown Decatur

'Kill The Messenger' will star Jeremy Renner and Barry Pepper.


A movie called Kill The Messenger will film Wednesday in and in front of Thumbs Up Diner on West Ponce in Decatur.

A note from the city on the Decatur Minute website says, "Trucks will be parked along a portion of Ponce de Leon, a portion of Commerce in front of Taco Mac, and a few spaces on Swanton Way. Decatur Police will be present during the filming to ensure traffic and pedestrian safety. Some trucks will start loading into place this evening."

The Internet Movie Database says the movie stars Jeremy Renner and Barry Pepper. It's not know if they'll be in the scenes Wednesday.

The IMDb synopsis of the movie: "A reporter becomes the target of a vicious smear campaign that drives him to the point of suicide after he exposes the CIA's role in arming Contra rebels in Nicaragua and importing cocaine into California. Based on the true story of journalist Gary Webb."

The Decatur Minute website also reports this film project: "Sunday, July 21st- Still photography project will take place at Glenlake Pool and Park on Sunday morning from 7-10am and then move to a location on Adams Street. The project will be over by 7pm and will not be filming any of the general public. Decatur Police will be present during the filming to ensure traffic and pedestrian safety."
