Monday Essentials: Poetry Reading at Savage Pizza

Here are five things to know about the coming week in Decatur and Avondale Estates.

Poetry reading.
Sylvia Cross,  author of “Sylvia’s Atomic Café Recipe and Coffee Table Book" and other books, will read Tuesday at a gathering of poets and poetry lovers at Savage Pizza in Avondale Estates. Starts at 7 p.m. Free.

No Decatur Commission meeting. The meeting that had been scheduled for Monday, July 1, was called off because of lack of agenda items.

Author appearance. Curtis Sittenfeld, who wrote the novel "Sisterland," will talk about her book at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the Decatur Library auditorium. Free.

Family Fun Night. You and your kids can enjoy a petting zoo with Kopp's Kritters at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Decatur Library. Free.
