The Georgia Legislature gave final approval Tuesday to new district maps for the Georgia House and Senate, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said. The Republican reapportionment plan now goes to Gov. Nathan Deal for his signature.
The legislator in Decatur/Avondale most affected: State Rep. Stephanie Stuckey Benfield, whose current District 85 includes portions of Decatur and Avondale Estates as well as Virginia Highland and Druid Hills. She told Patch in an e-mail that her district is being drawn in with another Democrat's, state Rep. Howard Mosby's 90th district.
