Does Decatur Like John Lewis? Oh Yeah!

The response was enthusiastic when it was announced the congressman will be keynote speaker for the Decatur Book Festival.

How popular is Decatur's congressman?

The crowd gathered at Eddie's Attic to hear the Decatur Book Festival lineup broke into hoots, hollers and lout applause for about 20 seconds when Philip Rafshoon, the program director, announced the keynote speaker was John Lewis. You'd have thought he said "free beer."

Lewis, of course, is also a civil rights hero and author of a graphic novel, "March," about the 1963 March on Washington.

Watch this video of Rafshoon making the announcement. The noise starts around 1:08.
