Car Hits Lawyer Outside Courthouse

Lawyer with public defender's office in serious condition at Grady Hospital, police say

A lawyer in the DeKalb County Public Defender’s Office was hospitalized Wednesday morning after an auto struck her in a crosswalk outside the DeKalb County Courthouse in Decatur.

Decatur Assistant Police Chief Keith Lee said the 33-year-old woman was injured about 8:50 a.m. in the crosswalk on West Trinity Place. Claudia Saari, DeKalb County public defender, said she was on her way to a hearing in the courthouse. Saari declined to name the woman.

The injured woman was taken to Grady Hospital with injuries that are serious but not life threatening, Lee said.
