Avondale Estates Improving Crosswalks

Avondale Estates received a grant to improve crosswalks and install ADA accessible ramps along U.S. 278, also known as East College Avenue, North Avondale Plaza and Covington Road.

Here's the message from city hall.

The work will start Monday the 22nd at 9:00 a.m. at Oak Street. Right lane closures will start on Monday and last in different locations all next week. The street will only be partially closed during the week except for four (4)-five (5) minute windows for crosswalk striping which requires continuous installation across the street. The schedule of work is dependent upon the weather.  

The intersections/areas impacted are:  

1. South Avondale Road at Oak Street crosswalk.
2. Ashton Place at Covington Road.
3. North Clarendon Ave. at N. Avondale Plaza.
4. Pine Street at N. Avondale Road.
5. Oak Street at N. Avondale Road.
6. Maple Street at E. College Ave.
