Two news reports confirm Avondale Estates' reputation as a popular place for lesbian couples to settle.
The Washington Post took information from Trulia, a real estate concern, and created a story on "the gayest zip codes." Avondale Estates ranked ninth in the county for female same-sex couples, with a 1.9 percent share of households.
Provincetown, Mass., was number one with a 5.1 percent share.
CNNMoney used the same information to rank the most affordable gay-friendly neighborhoods in 10 major metro areas across the country.
Avondale Estates was found to be the most popular neighborhood in metro Atlanta for lesbian couples and at $96 per square foot, it was the affordable alternative, too.
Last summer, a study found Avondale Estates had the highest concentration of gay couples in Georgia -- 49.30 per 1,000 households. Decatur came in second, with 39.37 per 1,000 households.
Trulia identified the zip codes with the largest pockets of gays and lesbians by looking at the latest numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau.
The CNNMoney report said the most popular neighborhoods for gay men in same-sex relationships in metro Atlanta were Morningside, Lenox Park and Piedmont Heights, which cost $129 per square foot.
Grant Park ranked as the "affordable alternative," with housing costs running $104 per square foot.
