5 Things to Know Today: July 18, 2012

For kids, Fiddlin' Dan the Mountain Man will entertain at the Biffle Cabin.

Good morning, Decatur and Avondale Estates. Here are 5 Things to know about today.

1. Weather. Same story -- high temps in the lower 90s, low temps in the lower 70s, chance of rain between 30 and 50 percent.

Fiddlin' Dan the Mountain Man will spin tales  at 10 a.m. at the Biffle Cabin at 720. W. Trinity Place, Decatur. It costs $4. This is the next-to-last session in the Log Cabin Storytelling series.

. If the kids are still antsy, the Decatur Library will show "Finding Nemo" at 1:30 p.m.

4. Have you tried Zumba? This Latin-dance inspired exercise class at the First Baptist Church of Decatur emphasizes fitness, not complicated choreography.  Janet Ackerman teaches the class at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays. It costs $15 per person.

5. It won't hurt to listen. Looking ahead, maybe you should attend this free seminar at 6 p.m. Thursday at DeKalb Medical. Dr. Mark Stern, a gastroenterologist, will explain why a colonoscopy is the gold standard for early detection and treatment of colon cancer. To register, call 404.501.WELL.
