Today's highlight: As a back-to-school special, a local company is offering free head lice checks.

Good morning, Decatur and Avondale Estates. Here are 5 Things to know about today.

1. Weather. Partly sunny with a 30 percent chance of rain. High temps in the low 90s, lows around 71.

2. Lowest gas prices. Late Wednesday, the lowest prices were $3.37 per gallon at QuikTrip at 4113 Covington Highway and Racetrac at 3858 Covington Highway. Prices can chance quickly so look at the Patch gas widget for the best deal in the Decatur and Avondale Estates area.

3. Back to school head lice checks. The company Elimilice will provide no-cost, comprehensive head lice checks on a first-come, first-served basis from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at 1549 Clairmont Road, Suite 107, Decatur. Hair must be clean, dry and free of products.

4. Basketball skills academy. Kids 7 to 15 can still sign up for the Atlanta Dream Basketball Skills Academy, to be held Sunday, Aug. 12, at Decatur High. It costs $40 per player.

5. On this date. In 1974, Gerald R. Ford was sworn in as the 38th president of the United States following the resignation of Richard M. Nixon.
