A "HEAVY" Denial!

The majority of the public believes obesity to be the second most serious health issue in the country, after cancer.  Despite this belief only 5% of Americans realize obesity raises cancer and respiratory disease risk!

When asked whether their weight was normal, 50% said, "Yes." According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 67% of American adults are either overweight or obese. This means many people are probably not completely aware of their own physical health.

There is just no way around it.  The obesity epidemic is at the heart of the health care crisis and it is putting a major financial strain on the health care industry.  There is no pill that can be taken to fix this problem.  People need a major shift in their lifestyles in order to address the underlying cause. 

Lack of exercise and poor nutrition are the root causes.  I have a personal disdain for commercials that say "when exercise and diet don't work".  It always works!  It just takes discipline and hard work.  Don't believe me?  Watch the biggest Loser.  They work their butts off and learn to eat better and get off their medications in the process. 

Be honest with yourself.  If you know you need to drop a few or even more than a few pounds, find support.  It is out there.  You can do it!
