Top Picks for Fun this Weekend

Places to go and things to do in Atlanta recommended by someone "In The Know".

There are so many festivals and events to choose from this time of year.  You could spend hours scouring websites and news publications for your options.  But why not save the time and get it from someone "in the know".  You may be "in the know" too, so feel free to add to my list.

Candler Park Festival - 10/13 noon to 10 pm & 10/14 noon to 8 pm: This festival is awesome.  The best part of it is the music. You will also find the typical artists' market, kids' area, and food.  It can get a little crowded during the evening, but this is a mellow crowd. candlerparkfallfest.com

Oakhurst Arts & Music Festival - 10/13 - 10 am to 7 pm: Is the Oakhurst area still "up and coming" or has it arrived?  Every year this event gets bigger. Again the typical artist market, kids' activities and music, but they also have a Dog Costume contest.  The highlight of this festival is the parade that starts at 2 pm. oakhurstartsandmusicfestival.com

Family Block Party, hosted by Atlanta Parent Magazine - 10/13 - 10 am to 4 pm: This event is filled with activities for families.  It can get crowded.  It costs $5 per person to enter(2 and youngeer are free) and the admission includes 3 activity tickets.  This means be prepared to spend money to do more activities.  And it is cash only.  There are some free activities and some activities that require tickets. The number of tickets for each activity and the activities that are free
are listed in the Festival Guide. You can view last year's guide on line at http://issuu.com/atlantaparent/docs/festivalguide/3
