Partner in Atlanta's Hunton & Williams Office Wins Litigation Counsel of America's Service Award

Hunton & Williams LLP announced that litigation and intellectual property partner Rita A. Sheffey has received the Litigation Counsel of America’s inaugural Peter Perlman Service Award. Sponsored by LCA 2013 President Peter Perlman, the award is presented to 25 LCA Fellows who go above and beyond in commitment and service to their communities.

Sheffey has served as director of Hunton & Williams’ Southside Legal Center pro bono clinic since it opened in 1995. As chair of the Atlanta office’s pro bono committee, she dedicates half her time to pro bono work and mentoring other lawyers in the firm.

“Pro bono service is essential to the makeup of Hunton & Williams – and to those we serve in the community – and I remain deeply committed to the program,” said Sheffey. “I am proud to be one of LCA’s Peter Perlman Service Award recipients.”

Among her many leadership roles, Sheffey currently serves as Secretary of the State Bar of Georgia and Vice Chair of the State Bar’s Civil Legal Services Task Force. She served as president of the Atlanta Bar Association from 2011-2012 and was awarded the organization’s highest honor, the Charles E. Watkins Jr. Award, for distinguished and sustained service. She is a member of the executive committee of the Metropolitan Bar Caucus, a part of the National Council of Bar Presidents, and is president-elect of Emory University School of Law’s Lamar Inn of Court.
