Four Decatur-Avondale Estates groups get $1,000 Days of Giving grants as program exceeds $1 million in contributions in Atlanta

Four Decatur-Avondale Estates non-profits were honored by Wells Fargo team members with $1,000 Days of Giving donations.   

Wells Fargo also announced that its employees gave or pledged $1.46 million this fall in the United Way and Community Support campaign – 13 percent more than last year.

In all, 55 groups received $1,000 checks on Oct. 29 at a community breakfast at the Evergreen Marriott Resort in Stone Mountain Park.

In all, some 240 groups in all received $1,000 gifts.  With the program in its fifth year, giving in Atlanta will exceed $1 million this fall.

Former Atlanta Brave Brian Jordan addressed those assembled at Stone Mountain Park, and his foundation was one of the honorees.

“Dream big and reach for the stars,” he told the group.  “Believe in what you do.  Reach out to everyone – a lot of people want to help.  And a lot of people need help.”

All the groups were selected by frontline team members in bank offices in the Atlanta area for the work they are doing locally.

“Just read the names to get a sense of the great work these groups are doing,” said Carol Morris, East Atlanta area president.

“We are doing our best to be a great local bank, and this is a cornerstone of our local giving and volunteerism,” said Robert Dobbs, business banking area manager.

The following Decatur-Avondale Estates groups received $1,000 grants.

DeKalb Initiative for Children and Families

International Womens House

United Methodist Children's Home of North Georgia Conference

Women's Resource Center
