What Should Go Here? Mulligan's Sports Bar space

The empty storefront is next to the Oakhurst Church.

The Oakhurst Village Shopping Center has three spaces.

A , scheduled to open this summer, will occupy one large area. takes the middle.

Mulligan's Restaurant and Sports Bar used to serve food and drinks in the remaining space, but no more. The spot has been unused for years.

Do you have any ideas about what kind of business or enterprise you'd like to see there? It doesn't have to be a restaurant.

Leave you ideas in the comment box below.

About this column: Every week or so, we'll post a picture of a vacant store or lot in Decatur and Avondale Estates. You can tell us what you think should replace the empty space. Know of an empty building we should highlight? E-mail ralph.ellis@patch.com.

We need some high-end stores on this side of town...I vote for Nieman Marcus or a Tiffany's

A New or Used Bookstore! OR Decatur Satellite LIBRARY Branch! OR TIN DRUM ASIAN FOOD (Oakhurst=Asian food desert) OR Kinkos/Fedex/Office/art Supply.

A nice Chinese restaurant would be nice, but I'd settle for good takeout.

Pitch the new Atlanta outpost of 826national.org Rumor has it, they are headed to ATL. In other cities these centers—begun by Dave Eggars, the writer—draw celebs for fundraisers and volunteerism, students, writers, kids, parents, school leaders. A real feather in any community's cap. Each has a wonderfully imaginative theme shop for kids in front, so requires a storefront. San Fran-the Pirate Shop, BKLN -the SuperHero Shop, etc

A bookstore would be fabulous!

What a wonderful idea. Been to the original pirate shop in the Mission District and brought home a fake eye for my son.

A bookstore would be nice, but everyone browses in them and then orders from Amazon and then they go out of business.

Much like Keep Avondale Estates Lame, we should start Oakhurst, Actively Regressing Back to da 'Hood. Why not just make it a Church's Chicken? Or maybe a Payless Shoe Store...

We need a nice grocery outlet like Harry's.
Carole Cooper June 19, 2012 at 05:19 PM
Still hoping to see a Buffalo Wild Wings on this side of town...

Both of those are great ideas, provided they have separate water fountains and restrooms!

The owner should fix up that run down building or sell it to someone who cares about this community. I agree with Rebecca, we are only digressing :( don't support that place until it is treated with respect by someone who cares!
