What Should Go Here?

Thumbs Up Diner used to occupy this now-empty building in Avondale Estates.

Thumbs Up Diner used to operate out of this building at 10 N. Clarendon Road in Avondale Estates, right next to DeKalb County Fire Station No. 3.

The restaurant moved out several years, though the Thumbs Up name is still painted on the door. The building has been empty ever since.

What kind of business or enterprise would you like to see in this building, which is close to the center of Avondale Estates?

About this column: Every week or so, we'll post a picture of a vacant store or lot in Decatur and Avondale Estates. You can tell us what you think should replace the empty space. Know of an empty building we should highlight? E-mail ralph.ellis@patch.com.

I will tell you what should go there...... "Thumbs UP" !!!! That's what should go there !!! It should have NEVER been closed... thats what happens when idiots get involved.. It was successful and the food was good. I too am still ill that they closed, WOW what a smart move that was close it down and leave a vacant building and send people to Atlanta or Decatur to eat.... Please find out who did that one and send them to away. Sorry I am so outspoken but they were a place I liked and was proud of !!!

Roly Poly Bleu House Cafe Fresh-2-Order type place ...or like a previous poster said, something bike-friendly since there doesn't appear to be much in the way of parking

I have always said "Avondale is where business goes to die". Why do you think all the businesses just west of Sam's Crossing are doing so well. It's not a part of Avondale.
