Workers continue turning the old Holiday Inn and Conference Center into a Courtyard By Marriott.

The Decatur Old House Fair -- a conference on repairing older homes -- is scheduled to be held there Feb. 18, according to the event's website.

The owners plan to present a sleek, modern hotel that will have 178 guest rooms, compared to 184 at the Holiday Inn.

said the lobby area will have guest service pods so that employees can step around to assist customers.

A “go board,” or large computerized touch screen, will help guests find area restaurants and provide information about local events.

The lobby area will be updated with hardwood floors, carpet and tile. The fitness center will be enlarged and one of the meeting rooms will be relocated.

The pool is also getting an overhaul.

The renovation is expected to cost about $9 million.
