This is the third year for Small Business Saturday, and Decatur is celebrating the day in a big way.
The Decatur Business Association says shoppers can:
- Visit the Indie-Catur tent on the Square from 11-5 p.m. for free gift wrapping, holiday music, five-minute massages, snacks and raffles from local Decatur businesses. Since it's Rivalry Saturday in college football, you can also have you face painted in in honor of you favorite team.
- Stop by Harmony Park in Oakhurst from 1-4 p.m. for free pet portraits, gifts from Taj Ma-hound and discounts at Sugar Moon Bakery.
- Spend $200 in Decatur Shops this month and get a $20 gift card from a local restaurant. Bring your receipts to the tent on the Square or the Community and Economic Development Department (second floor of City Hall) and receive the gift card.
According to the Small Business Saturday website, American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get more exposure during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. Fittingly, the day falls between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
