New State Farm Office Opens in Decatur

John Oxford, a Thomaston native, opened a new State Farm Insurance office
in Decatur this week at 1393 Church St.

Oxford, whose maternal grandparents and mother lived in Decatur, wanted to own a small business since he was a teenager.

After receiving his M.B.A. from Georgia Southern University, Oxford began his career with State Farm as a financial services representative for State Farm agent Eddie Causey in Warner Robins.

Four years later, he accepted an opportunity in Decatur to pursue his dream of opening a business.

“I have worked 55-hour-plus weeks for the past four years in order to make sure I am available when clients need me,” he said. “And I don’t want to slow down any time soon.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to create jobs for individuals, provide simplified yet needs-based recommendations to clients, and be there every step of the way when my policyholders need me most."

Oxford and his wife, Jamie, recently relocated to DeKalb County. Jamie Oxford works for Georgia Regents University’s Child Care Resource and Referral Agency.

“At the end of the day, I love what I do because I know I am making a difference in people’s lives for the better.”
