More Than 30 Employers Expected at Decatur Career Expo

Bring plenty of resumes and dress for job interviews at the May 7 job fair in Decatur. Former military personnel will have priority admission to the event.

GDOL to co-sponsor career expo/health fair May 7 in Decatur

The Georgia Department of Labor and several other organizations will co-sponsor a career expo and health fair Wednesday, May 7, in DeKalb County.

The event, which is open to the public, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New Life Community Center, 3592 Flat Shoals Road in Decatur. Former military personnel will have priority admittance to the event.

The expo will feature more than 30 employers that will be hiring or discussing future employment opportunities, while other organizations will provide educational and other resources.

Applicants must bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available jobs. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for jobs.

Those expected to participate in the expo include: AARP, Allied Barton Security Service, Atlanta Workforce Development, Avon, Brenau University, Clearpoint, Comcast Telesales, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Public Safety, Department of Veterans Administration-Atlanta Vet Center, DeVry University, Enterprise Rent A Car, Family Bridge Healthcare Services, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation, Georgia Piedmont Technical College, Golden State Foods, Gwinnett County Police Department, Home Depot, New Horizons Computer Learning, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Pepsico America’s Beverages, Ritz-Carlton Hotels of Atlanta, University of Phoenix, and the USDA’S Forest Service.

At the health fair, the DeKalb Medical Center will provide blood-pressure screenings, while the American Diabetes Association of Atlanta will screen for glucose.

Sponsors include the DeKalb/Rockdale Employer Committee, New Life Church and Community Center, Goodwill of North Georgia’s Decatur Career Center, and the GDOL’s DeKalb Career Center.
