Mobile Career Center To Visit Jobs Fair Wednesday

DeKalb Work Force Development is moving to a new location at 774 Jordan Lane, Decatur. The jobs fair will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The will visit the DeKalb Work Force Development (DWD) spring jobs fair at 774 Jordan Lane in Decatur from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The DWD is relocating to this address and will hold a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the county government announced on its website. The theme of the day is "New Location, Creating New Opportunities.

The jobs bus will make other visits to the Decatur and Avondale Estates areas this month.

  • Thursday, June 13. Villages of East Lake at 460 East Lake Blvd. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 19. The Department of Family and Children Services at 178 Sams St. in Decatur from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 20. The Covington Library at 3500 Covington Highway from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Major features of the resource center include 13 computer stations; a private interview area; high-speed satellite Internet connection; printer, scanner and copy services; and a fully accessible ADA workstation with movable table and auxiliary.Β 

Businesses will be able to use the mobile unit for recruiting, pre-employment screenings, interviewing, and training.

The mobile unit will also provide residents with essential services including job search assistance, adult workshops and training, resume writing and interviewing tips.
