Resolved to improve your employment situation in 2012?

Good thinking—many companies also "reset" in January, budget-wise and personnel-wise—so this is a great time to start your job search anew.

Here are some tips to get you started:

  • For part-time, temporary work, check out health clubs, weight loss centers, smoking cessation clinics and other shape-up service providers
  • Contact previously budget-crunched companies that start a new fiscal year Jan. 1. Things may be looking up in the new year.
  • Check job postings at colleges and universities, as they tend to start a new employment cycle at the beginning of each semester.
