In-The-Round Performance with: Janis Ian , Tony Arata , Gretchen Peters & Craig Carothers

Live show at Eddie's Attic featuring an In The Round Performance with Janis Ian, Tony Arata,  Gretchen Peters, and Craig Carothers!!!

A singer-songwriter both celebrated and decried for her pointed handling of taboo topics, JANIS IAN enjoyed one of the more remarkable second acts in music history. After first finding success as a teen, her career slumped, only to enter a commercial resurgence a decade later. When she was just 15, she recorded her self-titled debut. The LP contained, "Society's Child (Baby I've Been Thinking)," a meditation on interracial romance written by Ian while waiting to meet with her school guidance counselor. The song was later selected to receive the Grammy Hall of Fame Award. While banned by a few radio stations, the single failed to attract much notice until conductor Leonard Bernstein invited her to perform the song on his television special Inside Pop: The Rock Revolution. The ensuing publicity and furor over its subject matter pushed "Society's Child" into the upper rungs of the pop charts, and made Ian an overnight sensation. Her 1975 album, "Between the Lines," eclipsed all of her previous success, achieving her platinum status. In 2008, her single, "At Seventeen," from "Between the Lines," became her second song to receive the Grammy Hall of Fame Award.

Georgia native, TONY ARATA began performing his original songs while studying journalism at Georgia Southern University. In 1986, Tony moved to Nashville where his unique, soulful style began to get the attention of people like Allen Reynolds and Garth Brooks. To date, Garth Brooks has recorded seven of Tony's songs, including "The Dance," which went on to win Song of the Year at The Academy of County Music and received both a Country Music Association and a Grammy nomination, as well as a most performed song in Radio and Record Magazine. Over the years his songs have been recorded by the likes of Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Trisha Yearwood, Delbert McClinton, Don Williams, Reba McIntire, Suzy Bogguss, and Hal Ketchum. He has also had some number one records with "Here I Am" for Patty Loveless, "I'm Holding My Own" for Lee Roy Rarnell, and "Dreaming With My Eyes Open" for Clay Walker.

GRETCHEN PETERS is a Nashville folk/country songwriter with a knack for writing hit sons. She's been nominated twice for a Grammy and has won Song of the Year from The Country Music Association for her song, "Independence Day." Her songs have been covered by a talented and diverse crowd, including Martina McBride, The Neville Bothers, Patty Loveless, George Strait, Neil Diamond, Bryan Adams, and Faith Hill. Time Magazine said, "her choir-girl voice has a seductive hint of late nights and cigarettes."

The son of music teachers, CRAIG CAROTHERS' journey and songs began in the Pacific Northwest. Around the house, sounds ranged from Brubeck to Mancini; Victor Borge to Janathan Winters. Craig's later influences included Motown, Joni Mitchell, Tom Lehrer, and the Beatles. For more than 20 years he spent almost every night of the week playing shows within a forty-block radius of his home in Portland, Oregan. During that time Craig shared the stage with a wide variety of artists including Karla Bonoff, Rosanne Cash, Paula Cole, Catie Curtis, Crash Test Dummies, John Hiatt, Janis Ian, Patty Larkin, Michael McDonald, Jethro Tull, Loudon Wainwright III, Warren Zevon, and many others. In 1995 Trisha Yearwood recorded his song, "Little Hercules." Craig hung a gold record on the wall and started traveling to Nashville on a regular basis. In recent years his songs have gone on to be recorded by many other artists such as Kathy Mattea, Lorrie Morgan, Sons of the Desert, Steve Seskin, and Peter, Paul and Mary. Birmingham News calls his music "smart, memorable material put across with abundant personality."
