DeKalb Medical Physicians Group Montreal Adds to OB/GYN Practice

With more than 30 years of experience, Lyons is considered a surgical pioneer and has received numerous awards for his breakthroughs in gynecologic surgery.

The DeKalb Medical Physicians Group Montreal OB/GYN said Thomas L. Lyons, a former offensive lineman for the Denver Broncos,  joined its practice as of Jan. 1, 2014.

He joins the team of Stuart Pancer, Leslie Pope and Elizabeth Kobe. 

Montreal OB/GYN provides routine obstetrics care and care of “high risk” pregnancies, as well as routine and specialized gynecological care for women. 

With more than 30 years of experience, Lyons is considered a surgical pioneer and has received numerous awards for his breakthroughs in gynecologic surgery.

He also has authored the Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy proceedure and also developed the Laparoscopic Burch procedure for stress urinary incontinence. His areas of research include both alpha and beta site activities involving surgical devices and procedures, multiple activities in the area of adhesion prevention, endometriosis, tissue removal, vascular occlusion, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, managing menopausal symptomology, and female surgical sterilization.

The Atlanta native and University of Georgia graduate, Lyons also has become known as an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis. He has dedicated his career not only to women’s healthcare but to the education and training of gynecologists, particularly in the area of minimally invasive surgery.

Lyons graduated from the Georgia Military Academy (now Woodward Academy), before attending UGA.

While playing football and wrestling for the Bulldogs, he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in clinical bio-psychology.

He then went on to the University of Colorado medical school full time while spending six seasons with the Broncos.
