'Wine Workshop' Coming to Decatur

The shop in East Decatur Station will be a first-of-its-kind business in Decatur.

The Decatur City Commission voted Monday night to approve an alcoholic beverage license for a new kind of business in the city--the Wine Workshop and Brew Center.

The business will teach customers how to make beer and wine inside the store and also sell equipment for at-home wine and beer making, according to the business website. Owner Marcia Perez hopes to open in April.

To allow the business to operate, the city changed an ordinance Feb. 19.

The city also changed city ordinance to allow commercial craft breweries to operate. Blue Tarp and Three Taverns are opening soon. A whisky distiller also plans to open in Decatur.
