Shops have early hours and discounts.

Do you need another reason to shop locally on the day after Thanksgiving?

Well, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that two Atlanta malls – Lenox Square in Buckhead and the Mall of Georgia in Buford – rank among the top 10 nationally for the worst traffic on Black Friday. You might come home with a headache as well as Christmas presents.

If you do decide to stroll around Decatur tomorrow, you'll find early openings as well as some deals, as listed by The Decatur Minute:

  • Boogaloos Boutique will offer 30 percent off full price merchandise from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 15 percent off after 1 p.m.
  • opens at 9 a.m., with 10-30 percent off original artwork
  • is sponsoring a 7 a.m. Black Friday run that’s free and open to runners and walkers of all abilities. The store will have extended hours and specials.

Avondale Estates is kicking off the Month of Merry holiday shopping promotion Thursday, Dec. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at .

The event features treats from participating businesses, chances to enter for door prizes and even a visit from Santa Claus.

The Month of Merry offers extended hours at shops and restaurants on Thursdays. Most businesses  will stay open until 9 p.m. and some will offer discounts and refreshments.
