Anti-Walmart Group To Knock on Doors

Good Growth DeKalb launching an outreach campaign this Saturday.

, the citizens group that opposes construction of a Walmart at Suburban Plaza, is taking it to the streets again.

A few weeks , members of the group will knock on residential doors Saturday, March 31, to seek support for their cause.

An email from the group said members will meet at 9 a.m. at North Decatur Presbyterian Church and go out in teams to assigned neighborhoods until noon.

They'll ask residents to sign a paper petition and engage in dialogue, the email said. Group members will do the same on other Saturdays in April.

The group fears the Walmart would bring , an aging shopping center just outside the Decatur city limits.

Selig Enterprises wants to renovate the entire shopping center with Walmart as the anchor store. Good Growth DeKalb to investigate whether a lawsuit could stop the project.
