DeKalb Co. To Honor Workers Who Helped Catch Carjacker

Decatur police said the two employees in the DeKalb Roads and Drains Department tried to block the carjacker and followed him until the stolen SUV wrecked on South Candler Street.

The DeKalb County Commission on Tuesday morning will honor two employees who helped Decatur police apprehend a carjacker last Wednesday.

Sean Brown and Harvey Carter of the DeKalb Roads and Drains Department said they saw the carjacking occur near Swanton Way, according to WSB-TV news.

The two men tried to block the carjacker with their county vehicle but he drove around them and they chased him down South Candler Road, where the stolen SUV wrecked.

"We were on him the whole time, actually got a chance to feel how the police feel when they are after the person they are trying to catch," Carter told WSB-TV.

Police arrested a 15-year-old male suspect who crawled out of the wreckage.
