Weekend Planner: Start With A Steel Guitar

You can hear jazz in Oakhurst, meet several authors, play bingo and shop at the Decatur Farmers Market.

There's a lot going on this weekend in Decatur and Avondale Estates. Here are five things to do, but for a full list of possibilities check out the Patch calendar of events.

1. Jazz in Oakhurst. Saxophonist Kebbi Williams and his band play at 7 p.m. Thursday at Jazz Nights at Scottish Rite. Bring a blanket. Free.

2. Book events. Ann B. Ross signs and talks about "Miss Julia Stirs Up Trouble" at 7 p.m. Thursday at Eagle Eye Book Shop. Rod Dreher signs "The Little Way of Ruthie Leming" at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eagle Eye. at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eagle Eye.

3. Steel guitar star. Rob McNurlin & His Cowboy Band featuring Kayton Roberts perform at 9 p.m. Friday at Kavarna. Roberts used to play steel with Hank Snow and was inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame in 2012. $15.

4. Bingo!Β  Test your luck at 7 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion Post 66 in Avondale Estates. $8.

5. Decatur Farmers Market. Buy fresh produce from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 498 N. McDonough St. Free admission.
