Steel Drum Band In the Decatur Square

When/where: 5 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at the Decatur Square Gazebo.

Why go: OSteel, a steel band based at Oberlin College in Ohio is touring the South and will perform in Decatur. The group plays in the tradition of the great steel bands of Trinidad but also performs arrangements of calypso, salsa and jazz numbers. Cate Hughes, a 2009 Decatur High grad, is a band member.

When/where: 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at , 129 Lake St., Avondale Estate.

Why go: You can get cost vaccinations, health testing and micro chipping for dogs and cats, puppies and kittens. The vet exam is free.

Price: $10.

When/where: 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at the , 2076 N Decatur Road, Decatur.

Why go: Demott's new novel, "The Starboard Sea," has gotten great reviews in the New York Times and other publications. She'll be talking about the novel and signing books.

Price: Free, but you have to pay for the book.

Iberian Pig Part of April's Fool Switcheroo

When/where:  5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at The Iberian Pig at 121 Sycamore St., Decatur. 

Why go: For April Fool's Day, The Iberian Pig and Double Zero Napoletana in Sandy Springs are sending employees to the opposite restaurant. Each restaurant will offer the other's most popular menu items. For more information, visit www.theiberianpigatl.com.
