‘Walkers’ Keep Out: GA Town OKs 15-Foot-High Wall to Deter Zombies
The set for season 5 of AMC's "The Walking Dead," includes building a 15-foot high wall in Georgia to keep zombies, called "walkers" in the show, out.
Filming is under way in Georgia on season five of AMC’s wildly popular post-zombie apocalypse “The Walking Dead,” and the producers of the dark drama just won approval to build a key prop.
The next season of the show -- based on a smalltown Georgia sheriff trying to lead a band of survivors to safety after most of the world has turned to flesh-eating zombies -- is scheduled to premier in October. From the looks of a video AMC recently released, it promises to be the most ambitious season premier yet.
The show is the highest-rated cable program in history, according to CNN. But neither the show nor the actors have received any Emmys except for one nomination this month for editing and another for special effects.
But if you happen to be near the small town of Senoia, you might want to be careful not to run into a 15-foot-high wall during your escape from “walkers.”

The crew received approval from the Senoia City Council to construct a wall to enclose a neighborhood in the town, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The enclosed area closes off four brownstone homes and a half-dozen other residences.
Senoia Mayor Larry Owens says the wall will be finished in a couple weeks and won’t come down until sometime in November, the news outlet reports.
The 15-foot-high wall is meant to keep “walkers” out and create a safe haven. Will it be safer than Terminus?
